deptford.jpgDressing up is by no means compulsory at White Mischief, but we encourage our partygoers to enter into the spirit of things and in doing so we’ve come across dozens of wonderful vintage clothing emporiums, hair salons, costume hire warehouses and more. So we’re delighted to share the best of London’s costume and vintage scene with you here. Remember, while designer clothes may be expensive, imagination costs nothing and it’s possible to pick up some true style for very little cost at these wonderful locations. Don’t forget to tell them you found out about them on the White Mischief site.

Steampunk clothing at White Mischief

March 12, 2010 by Tobias

With White Mischief so heavily inspired by Jules Verne (we’ve had shows entitled “From The Earth To The Moon”, “Journey To The Centre Of The Earth” and “Around The World In 80 Days”, the steampunk aesthetic is one of the dressing-up themes we encourage. (Line-up for June 7 show; details on tickets and group discounts.)

Check after the jump for a magnificent collection of images taken from the last White Mischief show… thank the photographers and congratulate the Mischief-Makers who dressed up in such formidable outfits. We recommend Prangsta as a place from which to hire your steampunk outfit, but our guide to London’s best vintage clothing emporiums and costume rental locations offers many more suggestions.

Dressup inspirations for March 27 “The Great Exhibition”

March 12, 2010 by Tobias
Filed under Dressup, Inspirations, March 27 2010 show

Dressing up is not compulsory at White Mischief but we certainly encourage it. If you’re seeking inspiration, this is the place to be – and at the bottom of this article we have a list of suggested dressup looks.

Our March 27 third birthday extravaganza, “The Great Exhibition”, is based upon the wonders of Victorian science. Our compere is a pith-helmeted colonel; on stage a mad scientist will conduct bolts of lightning through a Tesla coil; in the lobby you’ll meet Hodman and Sally, explorers from Oblivia. Throughout the building there will be Victorian and steampunk works of art.

Be sure to read these relevant articles on our site:

Here are some ideas for costumes:

  • Steampunk
  • Neo-Victorian
  • Top hats / waistcoats / frock coats
  • Bustles / corsets / dresses
  • Explorers
  • Scientists / Engineers
  • Remarkable exhibits
  • Discoveries from the Empire
  • Zoological phenomena
  • Dinosaurs
  • Workers
  • Prince Albert / Queen Victoria
  • HG Wells / Jules Verne
  • Businessmen, women and philanthropists

Looking for that particular accessory? For the perfect haircut? For a costume to rent? Or to buy some second-hand clothing? Be sure to read our guide to London’s best vintage, second-hand and costume suppliers.

VIP tickets – access to two parties, balcony, private bar

gentlemen

We’re offering a limited number of VIP tickets for our “Great Exhibition” party on Saturday March 27. Not only do the VIP tickets get you a whole host of advantages at Scala, they also get you in to another party – our “White Mischief Revue” at Proud Cabaret on Friday March 26 – for free.

If you’d rather not spend too much time on your feet and like the idea of being able to find a seat easily; if you’re prone to getting hot under the collar and you’d like a restful spot in which to cool down; if you prefer quick access to the booze or if you’re just a snooty type who doesn’t like mingling with the rest of us, the VIP room is for you.

VIP tickets get you into the private glass bar, with the following advantages:

  • A dedicated private bar
  • Air conditioning
  • A view over the main stage
  • Access to the private balcony over the main stage
  • Plentiful seating
  • Limited capacity only for VIPs

Plus! Free entry to the White Mischief Revue at Proud Cabaret, Friday March 26

  • All VIP ticketholders are automatically placed on the guestlist for the White Mischief Revue on Friday March 26
  • These are show-only tickets worth £10 on their own

VIP ticketbuyers can exchange their ticket for a VIP pass on the door. We will be limiting access to the room so that only VIP pass holders can gain entry. We will be selling significantly fewer VIP tickets than the room’s legal capacity, so you can be absolutely sure that buying VIP tickets will secure you a peaceful refuge, an enclave of calm, as well as a perfect spot from which to view the acts.

This is the ideal way to treat your loved one or to celebrate a birthday. Indeed, if you have a group we are offering group discounts on large batches of VIP tickets, so by all means contact us if you would like to order a group of VIP places. Or to book direct, visit our ticket booking page

Note that the VIP tickets are limited and have sold out early at all previous events.
