VIP ticketbuyers can exchange their ticket for a VIP pass on the door. We will be limiting access to the room so that only VIP pass holders can gain entry. We will be selling significantly fewer VIP tickets than the room’s legal capacity, so you can be absolutely sure that buying VIP tickets will secure you a peaceful refuge, an enclave of calm, as well as a perfect spot from which to view the acts.

A: No, dressing up is not compulsory and everyone gets let in – though we do encourage you to enter into the spirit of things! Imagination costs nothing and it’s possible to put together something fun for very little – see our list of recommended costume and second hand retailers and bear in mind that Prangsta is offering a 30% discount.

Q: Will I be able to get tickets on the door?

A: Yes, we will hold back some tickets for cash buyers on the door, but they will be £25 rather than the advance booking price of £17.50, so we recommend that you book in advance. Q: Do I still have time to book tickets online?

Q: Can I smoke at the venue?

A: Not indoors, though Scala does have an outdoor smoking patio.

We hand-pick unique live musical acts and intersperse them with some of the most astonishing vaudeville and circus performers around. Past shows have included everything from a man electrocuting himself with 20,000 volts of visible electricity to harpists who play with strings attached to hooks in their own skin!

Added to the mix are interactive experiences, comedy, spontaneous encounters with musicians and costumed characters in unexpected quarters… and a range of DJs representing every genre from jazz, blues and rock’n'roll to country and world music.

With four rooms of entertainment and two stages of music and vaudeville, there’s an extraordinary abundance of fun to be had during the seven hours of a White Mischief party. It’s a show from start to finish, so we invite guests to arrive as early as they can to be sure of catching everything.

Each room is decorated in line with our theme, courtesy of set dressers who have worked on film sets and have been involved in Punchdrunk’s “Masque of the Red Death”. The aesthetic is a neo-Victorian, Jules Verne inspired “steampunk” environment bringing to mind the romance of the industrial age.

Dressing up is not by any means compulsory – everyone is welcome at White Mischief – but we do encourage dressing-up and are pleased to share our own recommendations for costume rental, second-hand and vintage retailers in London. If you’re able to enter the spirit of things, then wonderful: high street and designer clothes may be expensive, but a bit of imagination costs nothing!

It is located next to the King’s Cross Thameslink station and just a hop, skip and a jump away from King’s Cross rail / Underground.

Smoking

For those of you who smoke, Scala has an outdoor smoking patio which is accessible from the inside of the building, meaning you don’t have to content with any annoying pass-in/pass-out system, unlike other venues.

Ordering tickets

You can order tickets to White Mischief in advance at the Scala box office, avoiding the booking fee and postage charge. However, tickets bought on the door on the night will be £25, so please book in advance. More information on booking tickets can be found on our tickets page.

Update 5 June: as tickets are selling out fast we can now only offer group discounts to groups of 10 or more. In order to book we will need advance payment via PayPal. The early-bird tickets, which were priced at £10 each, are now all sold out. We’re just about to announce White Mischief properly, and the standard price for all general admission tickets ordered now is £15 each. This price will last throughout March and April; in May the price will go up to £20. Finally, tickets purchased on the door will be £25.

For those of you booking via TicketWeb there is an extra booking fee, and a delivery charge. If you wish to avoid these extra charges, you can always get your advance tickets in person at the Scala box office – weekdays 10am to 6pm.

As our previous shows have sold out we strongly encourage everyone to order tickets well in advance. Not only do you benefit from lower ticket prices, but also you guarantee your entry. With nearly two dozen bands, DJs and vaudeville performers and spontaneous theatrical adventures bursting out of every corner, White Mischief’s one-night festival is worth every penny.

We’ve collected answers to all the questions you’ve been asking and have shared them here. If you want to know about group discounts, what time to arrive (8pm!), what time the acts are on stage, what to do if your tickets haven’t arrived, or whether there’s disabled access, the answer is to be found within. Read on!

Q: What time should we arrive?

A: 8pm, or as close to 8pm as you can manage. There is entertainment across multiple rooms from early in the evening, and if you don’t arrive early you will miss some key parts of the show.

Q: I can’t make it until late. Will I still get in?

A: Yes; doors will be open all night, though we do strongly encourage guests to turn up early. If you haven’t yet bought a ticket and you arrive after midnight, you can buy them at the reduced rate of £15.

Q: What time does the night finish?

A: 3am.

Q: Can I buy tickets on the door?

A: Yes; tickets on the door will be £20 each. (We recommend you book in advance for a discount.) From midnight, tickets will be available at the reduced rate of £15 each.

Q: What time are British Sea Power on?

A: We don’t reveal stagetimes for our artists until doors open, as we want you to experience the many wonderful bands and vaudeville acts playing White Mischief all night. But (at the band’s request) British Sea Power are playing early so that most of their fans will have a chance to catch the last train home. We’d advise dedicated fans to be in the main stage Earth Room by 21:00 if they want to bag a good spot from which to see the band.

Q: We are a large group of people. Can we get a discount?

A: Yes – please contact us to discuss discounts for large groups.

Q: I’m not dressing up – will I still get in?

A: Yes. Though we encourage people to dress up (even your best shirt / new dress / fancy hat is a start!), it’s certainly not compulsory and we don’t turn people away for not dressing a certain way.

Q: Are there age restrictions?

A: Unfortunately the venue has designated tonight as over-18s only; please bring photo ID such as driving licence.

Q: Is there wheelchair / disabled access?

We are sorry to say that there are access difficulties at Scala, though the venue and its staff will do their best to help, and we will be glad to offer disabled guests access to our balcony which is a prime viewing spot. For full details check Scala’s access page.

Q: My ticket/s haven’t arrived. What do I do?

A: Do not fear as there are still ways to get you in if you act fast. First of all contact us (being sure to include your booking reference number, address and date of ticket ordering.) Secondly call your ticket retailer (which will be either TicketWeb or SeeTickets), phone them up, and explain the situation. In most cases they will authorise the tickets to be picked up at the will-call window.
