Update on tickets for The Eve of Tomorrow Ball, New Year’s Eve

December 29, 2010 by
Filed under Dec 31 2010 show

UPDATE as of 30 DECEMBER, 13:03

All advance tickets (regular, VIP and champagne tickets) have sold out. Your best bet now is to turn up on spec tomorrow night (see below.)

2. ENTRY WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE NIGHT FOR THOSE PREPARED TO QUEUE

As the event is on from 8pm to 5am, there will be a throughput of guests. Some will arrive early and leave early. Some will certainly leave just after midnight. We have not over-sold so it won’t take much for some space to open up. Accordingly those of you who are happy to turn up on-spec and possibly wait a while should be able to get in. We are recommending that you arrive at the venue from 23:30, by which we will have a good idea of what the capacity is looking like.

Entry will be £60 cash from 23:30 until 01:00. After 01:00, entry will be £40 cash. After 02:00, entry will be £20 cash. We have stage performances on until gone 02:30 and then DJs so there will be entertainment even if you arrive late.

The venue is Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, London WC1B 4DA. Entrance through the central doors in the middle of the stone building, which will be illuminated. Full details of the venue including photos, a map and directions are available at this link.

3. SORRY BUT THERE IS NO TIME LEFT TO PROCESS RETURNS

We’re at the venue from tomorrow morning so we will be away from all things computer-related and thus unable to process any returns / refunds / exchanges.

4. “WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY BOOKED TICKETS BUT THEY HAVEN’T ARRIVED?”
If you have ordered tickets through Brown Paper Tickets or TicketWeb (and were told that physical tickets were being sent in the post – ie orders that happened before roughly the 23rd December) you should have received them by now. If not then please phone the ticket retailer: Brown Paper Tickets 0800 411 8881 or TicketWeb 0844 499999. Explain the situation and they will cancel and void your tickets and place your name on our guest list. Note that the old tickets will be nulled and therefore will not work on the door.
If you booked via Brown Paper Tickets or Ticketweb after Christmas your name will be on the door – bring ID and quote your name.
If you ordered VIP tickets directly with us, your name will be on the door – bring ID, jump to the front of the queue and quote your name.
If you ordered champagne in advance, your name will be with the champagne dispense point in the Grand Hall. Please quote your name and show ID to get your bottle of champagne.

Eve of Tomorrow BallBOOM BOOM CLUB and WHITE MISCHIEF present

R Frend’s Electric Corporation’s

EVE OF TOMORROW BALL

8pm – 5am Friday December 31st, 2010
At  a secret, magnificent, period venue in central London

A limited number of early-bird tickets priced at £35 are now on sale from Brown Paper Tickets

“WE MAKE TOMORROW, TODAY!”

London in the 1930s. The First World War is a distant memory and the Second World War is yet to trouble our dreams. This is the dawn of technological consumerism: electricity, the telephone, movies, radio, TV have all made their mark. We stand on the shoulders of Edison and Tesla; of Logie-Baird, of Einstein and Kellogg and Fleming.

You are invited by Ronald Frend’s Electric Corporation, a shadowy company that has risen to international prominence, to the global launch event for a host of products and services that demonstrate the shape of things to come.
Tonight sees the unveiling of a mysterious new invention that promises to revolutionise communications forever. It is December 31st, the date in the year that most symbolises our hopes for the future and a bright new tomorrow. Join scientists and starlets alike and marvel as we welcome you to THE EVE OF TOMORROW.

A SPLENDID, SUMPTUOUS, SECRET CENTRAL LONDON VENUE

The magnificent stone and marble entrance of our secret Central London location leads on to period Art Deco interiors that evoke the forgotten grandeur of days-gone-by while hinting at the decadent future to come. The venue details will be revealed by electronic mail during the week running up to the party to those who have purchased their ticket.

THE VERY BEST IN PERFORMANCE, MUSIC AND SIDESHOWS

The night will feature cabaret, contemporary circus, roving performance, live music and art installations across several rooms – plus DJs playing electro-swing, vintage jazz, rock’n'roll and more until the early hours. An interactive game element will invite guests to unlock the secret of the Eve of Tomorrow.

Expect to see: a Big Band performing today’s hits in the style of yesterday; robotic waiters; anachronistic prototypes of modern inventions; liquid nitrogen ices and other delicacies of tomorrow; dancing girls; illusionists and acrobats who defy the laws of nature. VIPs will be handed a currency to invest in the more bizarre business opportunities. Enjoy a New Year’s breakfast; cabinets filled with dieselpunk and futuristic artefacts; machines which predict the future; and the world’s first pinball machine!

Full line-up to be announced shortly

EARLY BIRD TICKETS

We have a limited number of early-bird tickets priced at £35. Snap them up while you can as the full-price tickets will be higher. With the combined popularity of Boom Boom and White Mischief, this event WILL sell out in advance – just like White Mischief’s last two New Year’s Eve parties in 2009 and 2008.

Lowest booking fee and free first class postage from Brown Paper Tickets (Tel: 0800 411 8881)

VIP TABLE SEATS

We have a very limited number of VIP tables guaranteeing you a seat for the night in the main room with a dedicated wine waiter to ensure quick service from the bar. Hosted at the splendid Brighton Ballroom, it will be our first regular monthly night out of London. Last Friday of every month (except December.) Tickets £5 in advance at TICKETWEB http://bit.ly/tuskjantw and BROWN PAPER http://bit.ly/tuskjanbpt

LINE-UP – Friday 28 January:

The story thus far:

In the mysterious land of Hippopotamia, just over the snow-peaked mountain range called the Kanilayas, intrepid explorers from every nation gather at The Tusk and Garter Club. Fabled for its exotic music and a cast of performers drawn from far and wide, The Tusk and Garter Club is a refuelling-point for every fearless adventurer east of Timbuktu.

They present for your delight a sumptuous night of spectacular cabaret and circus plus red-hot live music drawn from across the seven continents. Tiaras and turbans meet side-by-side while the DJs spin vintage tunes laced with a global twist.

The Tusk and Garter Club is brought to you by White Mischief, famed for their vaudevillian antics in London clubs, Georgian mansions and festivals such as Bestival (“…their parties make Alice and her snooping down the nooks and crannies of Wonderland seem about as exciting as nipping down to the frozen goods aisle at Asda” – THE GUARDIAN), ably assisted by Carnival Catalyst, local purveyor of wonky vintage shenanigans such as Steampunk Hidden Events & Silver Wednesdays.

Dressing up is not compulsory but encouraged – vintage, extraordinary, glamorous, costumes from across the planet…

Oct 30th sold out – details on returns / waiting list here

October 18, 2010 by
Filed under Oct 30 2010 show

All standard and VIP advance tickets for “The Haunted Ballroom” on October 30th are now sold out. The eagle-eyed among you may note that we previously had 50 last tickets available but they have all gone now too. Well done to those of you who secured your ticket in plenty of good time – you’ll be able to walk in when the doors open at 9pm.

There will be no further tickets available on the door until after approximately midnight, when most of the performances have ended and the first guests begin to leave. Then, assuming there is space, we will let people in at the door. This will be at the discretion of the venue and is best suited to people who are coming in from another party as obviously the main acts will have finished.

Currently we have zero tickets at hand. However we will be accepting returns, so if you can no longer attend and would like to approach us for a refund, we will consider applications. Please get the person who booked the tickets to write to us with details of how many tickets you would like to return.

If anyone returns their ticket we will be able to make it available to another guest, dependent upon demand and availability. New tickets will be £30 and we will need to receive funds via a bank transfer or in cash before sending out tickets. To put your name on the waiting list for returned tickets please fill in this form.

Don’t hesitate to write to us if you have any questions about the above.

Finally if all this sounds like too much bother and you’d just like to go to a bloomin’ great Halloween party then we strongly recommend a separate party - Steamboat Bordello - on October 31st. Featuring The Correspondents among other acts, this party is on board a paddle steamer which appears to have mistaken the Thames for the Mississippi! It’s hosted by our friends at Last Days of Decadence, who are offering a £5 discount to White Mischief guests. To get the discount, visit Ticketweb, pull down Promo Offer 2, and type in “whitemischief50″ as the promo code.

How to get your hands on the last 50 tickets

October 13, 2010 by
Filed under Oct 30 2010 show, Ticket updates

Oct 18 2010: We have now sold out of advance tickets.

Oct 13 2010: Officially we have sold out of our advance ticket allocation, though as so many of you have written in begging for tickets, we’ve decided to release 50 standard tickets that we had been holding back to sell on the door.

Read on for full details, or if you just want to get ordering then visit the ticket page now.

What’s the deal?

There are still over two weeks to go before Saturday October 30, when Scala in King’s Cross plays host to WHITE MISCHIEF “The Haunted Ballroom“. We have sold a greater volume of tickets than ever before, in a shorter period of time than ever before. We understand that many guests will have been caught unawares by this, expecting that they should be able to get tickets two weeks before the party. This afternoon people have been writing in asking how they can get tickets, or worrying because their friends have places but they don’t.

The good news

Firstly we’re overjoyed to announce some more acts that we had been keeping up our sleeves as a final surprise. David McAlmont, the astonishing singer who has collaborated with composers Michael Nyman and David Arnold as well as with Bernard Butler, will take to the stage early in the night to enchant us with his magnificent voice. Later in the evening expect some thrust-and-parry from swordfighters LiveBlades. There will be a few more sideshows and walkabout performers added in the coming days, too.

The other bit of good news is that we kept aside 50 tickets to be sold on the door at £30 each. But seeing as we’ve received half a dozen begging letters already this afternoon, we have decided to put this final allocation up for sale so that you can be confident that your place is safe and can begin to plan your splendid outfits.

What’s the damage?

The price will be £28.25 per ticket. With service fee each ticket will come to £29.95 and there’s no postage charge. So you’ll be able to get these tickets in advance for less than it would have cost on the door. And these tickets are still cheaper than three of the other major parties on the alternative scene taking place over the Halloween weekend.

These are standard tickets.

Sorry, there are no more VIP tickets available…. so please don’t ask. They sold out over a month ago.

Any more questions please email us.

SUPPORT THE ARTISTS AND CRAFTISTS

In addition to the many live bands and performers we are for the first time hosting a number of stalls featuring art, design, craft and objets d’art from the nation’s finest steampunk artists. There’s even a luxury chocolate stand from The Clockwork Quartet. There is a cash machine in the building, though we advise you to bring change so that you can support these fabulous artists by buying their remarkable work.

PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY

We support photographers’ right to document the event as a form of artistic expression; however please do this with the utmost respect for other partygoers and always ask permission before photographing someone. These days even your mobile phone can deliver photos and videos direct to Flickr, Facebook and YouTube. Please be sure to tag all photos you upload to these sites with the word whitemischief so that they show up automatically on our site and can be found easily by other partygoers. Note that we have a specific request from the act Voltini, who asks that you use absolutely no flash or lighting during his act whatosever, and that there must be no photography or filming of any scene involving naked flesh. Please respect our artists’ wishes. Also please note that the BBC will be filming a segment during the party; if you do not wish to be featured please let one of their team members know.

CLOAKROOM / VENUE ADDRESS

Yes, there will be a cloakroom. It is operated by the venue, Scala. Incidentally Scala is at 275 Pentonville Road, King’s Cross, London N1.

PERFORMERS / ARTISTS TAKING PART
Saturday’s party features dozens of artists including astounding live bands on and off stage, mind-blowing cabaret acts,  themed rooms, DJs and walkabout characters. For the full list visit our event page or RSVP on the Facebook event. To read about the steampunk art and craft that will be for sale, read our list of steampunk artists.

A NOTE ABOUT DRESSUP

Dressing up is not compulsory at White Mischief but we encourage guests to enter into the spirit of things and express themselves – we’ve had everything from panda outfits to lampshades to flocks of birds to dinner jackets, ballgowns, even the occasional guest in t-shirt and jeans. To help you decide on a look we’ve created this list of dressup inspirations as well as compiling a guide to London’s best vintage, second-hand, costume, hair and makeup suppliers.

But our favourite is Prangsta, the bespoke costumier in New Cross whose incredible outfits leave the concept of fancy dress in the dirt! They’re offering White Mischief guests a 20% discount and they’re open on Saturday from 11am to 7pm!

JUST A FEW PLACES LEFT… BOOK IN ADVANCE

Nearly 90% of the available tickets have been sold, including all the VIP tickets and all the group discounts. If you’re thinking of coming please do book in advance…we will have a limited stock of tickets on the door but they will be more expensive at £25.
