Dressing up is by no means compulsory at White Mischief, but we encourage our partygoers to enter into the spirit of things and in doing so we’ve come across dozens of wonderful vintage clothing emporiums, hair salons, costume hire warehouses and more. So we’re delighted to share the best of London’s costume and vintage scene with you here. Remember, while designer clothes may be expensive, imagination costs nothing and it’s possible to pick up some true style for very little cost at these wonderful locations. Don’t forget to tell them you found out about them on the White Mischief site.

Upstairs at the Coach & Horses, 29 Greek Street, Soho W1D 5DH
Saturday 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th March
Two of London’s most acclaimed cabaret performers offer up a sparkling evening of satire and song in the intimate surroundings of the Private Eye Dining Room, secreted above Soho’s iconic drinking hole, Norman’s Coach & Horses. Dusty Limits – the love-child of David Bowie and Tom Lehrer – and Tricity Vogue, the elegant and hilarious songstress, deliver intelligent, low-fi, live entertainment that’s the perfect antidote to brainless celebrity culture. They will be joined each week by a different special guest plucked from among the nation’s finest poets and troubadours.
“The remarkable Dusty Limits: beautiful to behold, with West End-worthy vocal cords and a masterful grasp of the emcee’s role, teasing, flirting and haranguing us until we ate out of the palm of his hand.”
(**** The Scotsman)

Dear Mischief Makers
The Secret Garden Party festival and the spin-off soirees they have been hosting in London are the toast of the party scene, so they barely need any introduction. Now they are hosting a Winter Voyage aboard the fictional HMS Ulysses on December 12. After meeting a few Mischief Makers at our most recent Halloween show, the Secret Gardeners asked us to make sure you were all invited. So please be sure to read the fabulous line-up below…
“Tis not too late to seek a newer world. To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths, of all the western stars”
LADIES & GENTLEMAN, ANCIENT SEA CREATURES, NAVAL OFFICERS & FUTURISTIC PIRATES…
The only Christmas party not to be missed this year…
THE SECRET GARDEN PARTY’S WINTER VOYAGE
12th December, HMS Ulysses, 9:00pm – 4am
AKA The Troxy, 490 Commercial Road, East London
We cordially invite you aboard the wildest ocean liner ever to set sail.
The HMS Ulysses (aka The Troxy) will play host to an all night party in a beautifully dressed art-deco setting, featuring all the usual irreverent fun and frolicking of Secret Garden events, with a nautical twist.
Crewed by the Head Gardeners & a host of Gideon Reeling’s Assistants to guide you into an exploration of the ballrooms, cocktail bars, secret steerage parties and hidden passage-ways of the retro-future ocean going colossus.

We recommend: The Clockwork Quartet

White Mischief is proud to recommend a show from a musical outfit upon whom we have been keeping our beady eyes for some time. Featured in a Guardian article on steampunk before they had even played outside their own mysterious Victorian warehouse venue, now the Clockwork Quartet is presenting its series of songs and stories before the public for the first time, at London’s historic Horse Hospital. Read below for further details.
THE CLOCKWORK QUARTET

“Tarnished, bittersweet music that conjures up Portishead” – The Guardian
Dearest Friends,
I take great pleasure in inviting you to the world premiere of my new show. A collection of songs and stories following the cursed paths of a clutch of troubled souls – with music and light relief provided by my infamous companions, The Clockwork Quartet.
- The Raconteuse
Discover The Horse Hospital transformed into a run down Victorian music hall, where you can enjoy a cup of tea, a glass of port, or something more potent, and refreshments crafted by the band chocolatier. Advanced booking recommended.
“The Clockwork Quartet is a Dresden Dolls-esque collective of 20-odd musicians, actors and cabaret performers who all play various bizarre and morbidly dark characters. Intrigued?” – NME
with help from accordion, oboe, piccolo banjo, Stroh violin, musical saw, and the magnificent Steamdrone, as well as the percussive possibilities of clocks, metronomes, discarded mechanical parts and found objects. Members include two trained luthiers, a carpenter, a jeweller, a prop maker and sculptor, a chocolatier, and a doctor of zoology.Listen & book tickets at http://www.clockworkquartet.com

Special discount for this Saturday where two White Mischief favourites are performing
July 23, 2009 by Tobias
Mischief Makers can benefit from a specially discounted entry to International Hi Fi this Saturday, a three-room party where two White Mischief favourites (DJ Jean Paul Seculaire and escape artist Mr Flay) will be performing in the “Salon” room.
Held at the newly refurbished Garage club in Highbury and Islington (London N5 1RD), International Hi Fi has three rooms of music, cabaret and star DJs. The venue has air conditioning, new lights, a new sound system and a staircase connecting the different spaces.
To get entry to this Saturday’s International Hi Fi for just £5, all you need to do is contact us with your guest list of names. You can also leave your names on the Facebook wall for White Mischief.
Who’s performing
Although this isn’t a party organised by White Mischief we have invited a couple of our friends to perform in the “Salon” at International Hi Fi:
DJ Jean-Paul Seculaire (Right-On.org)
With an uncannily huge collection of vintage soul, jazz and Latin music, Jean-Paul is a man about town and a White Mischief regular, having kept the dancefloor jumping on New Year’s Eve and at a previous Scala show. He’s the founder of the acclaimed Right On! parties and writer of the London Dossier website – and his dress sense is the sharpest in town.
More information on Jean-Paul Seculaire…
Escape Artist and Man of Action The Irrepressible Mr Edwin Flay will be familiar to those of you who saw him hanging upside down above the audience at White Mischief’s “Journey To The Centre Of The Earth” party. He has performed at events from Glastonbury to the Burning Man festival and is building renown for his own “Flay and DeVille’s Circus of Marvels.” With a bewilderingly large collection of chains and handcuffs, Edwin Flay is a man who cannot be pinned down for long. He was once shot in the face by Tracey Emin.
In the other rooms:
Resident DJs:
BLACK KNIGHT (Casino Royale)
ED THE SAINT (Club NME)
JOHN DOWNFALL (Cheap$kates)
ROCK HUNTER (Casino Royale)
